The box was cast by Andrew Handyside's iron foundry in Derby, and although the manufacturer's name on the front of the black base is in poor condition it would normally display: Handyside Derby&London

Dist:0.4km<br/>The image is taken from the car park on the Chester Road in the middle of the village (SJ 4884 7559) although the woods and crags behind the houses are in the next square [[SJ4975]]. It is hard to be anywhere in Helsby without seeing the crags - the northern end of the Cheshire Sandstone Ridge marking the former coastline when the Mersey (behind the photographer) was much wider than it is today. A rainy (grainy?) afternoon ...
