This was the view along St. Augustine's Gate in Hedon, East Yorkshire early (~9a.m.) on Christmas morning 2007. For just a few seconds, the road is totally devoid of traffic and parked cars! This contrasts very starkly with exactly the same time just the day before on Christmas Eve! Apart from the modern day signs, aerials and tarmac, this view would look similar to this scene 100 years ago.

The view looking northwards along the main street in Hedon. Hedon is six miles east of Hull, but has been in existence for several hundred years longer than its large neighbour.

During the week, this photograph would almost be impossible to take as there would be at least one or two cars - sometimes twenty on this stretch of road!
