Dist:0.7km<br/>Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy (known locally simply as 'The Vic')dates from 1966 and has recently been extended and partially rebuilt, the new facilities opening early in 2012. This is the view of them from the car park nearest the main entrance to the building.

Dist:0.8km<br/>This is the opposite side of the railway station, leading out onto the north platform for trains going to Dundee, Perth, Aberdeen, Inverness and beyond. This is situated on Whyte Melville Road/Forth Avenue off Oriel Road roundabout, in Kirkcaldy town centre. This building dates from 1964, surviving a fire that destroyed the main entrance. A car park, exists to the far left of the picture including a new extension with access just at Bennochy Bridge. The new extension is jam-packed with cars being left, for all of Kirkcaldy's commuters to go to work in Edinburgh.

Dist:0.8km<br/>This is Beechwood in Bennochy Road, Kirkcaldy. The house was built in 1880 for Michael Beveridge (provost of Kirkcaldy) who lived in the property until his sudden death from pneumonia in 1890. Later, ownership changed to the Kirkcaldy branch of the royal legion. In 1993, the house was made a Category B listed building, saving Beechwood from demolition. Nowadays, the house has been converted into two flats with some new houses built behind in the grounds.

Dist:0.8km<br/>Loco hauled services in Fife as seen in 1985 when the majority were hauled by class 47 locos. These services were some of the last to use "steam heat" rather then electric train heating. In simple terms the locos had a boiler which produced steam to heat the coaching stock. A driver's assistant was required to look after the boiler which, if not attended to correctly, would mean the passengers would freeze in winter or cook in summer! Normally heat was provided in the winter months which normally meant by the May timetable change it was deemed summer even if it was still cold!

Dist:0.8km<br/>Plaque is sited in the War Memorial Gardens at Kirkcaldy. As Chief Engineer of the Canadian Pacific Railway he surveyed several famous routes including Yellowhead and Kicking Horse passes and also having invented Standard Time deserves to be better known.
