Dist:0.2km<br/>All Saints' church stands raised above the surrounding land, in close proximity to the pit villages of Harworth and Bircotes. Only the tower remains of the medieval church, the rest rebuilt by C.J.Neale in 1869 with a neo-Norman chancel, apparently incorporating some of the original Norman one.

Dist:0.5km<br/>The site at Harworth Colliery, now mothballed it costs millions to maintain every year (£3.5million in 2008).If the remaining reserves are not mined soon I would have though the cost of keeping it mothballed will be too much to sustain. The Two chimneys of the bulb factory went in August 2009.

Dist:0.6km<br/>A rare visit of a passenger train to Harworth mine. The train had started from Reading early that morning the highlight being the freight line into Harworth mine providing a very rare opportunity to visit Harworth by rail. Harworth mine is now mothballed, will it ever produce coal again?

Dist:0.7km<br/>A railway line is completely hidden in the valley bottom, but the church beyond stands out in the spring sunshine. Also standing out is the fluorescent yellow jacket of someone who seemed to be keeping an eye on me - probably a security man.
