Dist:0.1km<br/>Looking towards the junction with the A1000, High Road, at East Finchley. The 134 bus on the right is a stranger to these parts, being on diversion due to a burst watermain on Muswell Hill. The bus in the queue of traffic in the centre is a 43, also on diversion. It was a very cold night and the roofs of the shops and the Bald Faced Stag pub, across the junction in the centre of the photo, are white with frost.

Dist:0.1km<br/>AEC Regent bus on the 102 route turns onto Fortis Green Road. It must have been a warm evening, the front windows are wound right down. Entering service in 1938, the last buses of this type were retired from passenger service by London Transport in 1979. In the background is the Bald Faced Stag public house.

Dist:0.2km<br/>Freshly fallen snow coats the pavement beside the Fortis Green request stop. Despite the continuing fine falling snow the two lady pedestrians seem in good spirits as they make their way towards the station.

Dist:0.2km<br/>Traditional barbershop that has seen better days. I used to get my hair cut here when I was at school, a very long time ago! Not much has changed in 40 years. I bet the barbers still ask 'anything for the weekend sir?' Planning permission was granted in January 2007 for Lincoln Parade to be redeveloped as housing, so I wonder how much longer the shops will be here.

Dist:0.2km<br/>A 134 waits to turn into Fortis Green from the High Road in East Finchley. The 134 and 43 routes were temporarily diverted due to a burst watermain on Muswell Hill. Behind are another 134, 2 43's and a 263 on its normal route to Barnet Hospital.

Dist:0.2km<br/>No sooner have the gas contractors finished their work than the water contractors dig up the road. And...No sooner have they finished than the gas contractors are back again! Temporary traffic control at the junction of East End Road and High Road. Fortis Green is opposite.

Dist:0.2km<br/>On Lincoln Road, adjacent to the High Road in East Finchley. This small group of shops in a generally rundown condition are finally undergoing redevelopment. The shop fronts have been removed revealing previous ownership in the case of the closest. This was a small estate agents in its latter days, but was once Finchley Pet Stores. The 4th shop along was once a barbers - see [[375031]]. It's a wet day and the workers can be seen sheltering inside the 5th shop.
