Dist:0.4km<br/>Only a small sliver of land is in the northern end of this grid square, mostly cliffs and some rocks down below. The only other feature is the clifftop footpath that links Peacehaven with Castle Hill.

Dist:0.5km<br/>Not a day for getting too close to the cliff edge, with a very strong wind. In any case, the deposit overlying the chalk is rather unstable, and as is evident on the nearer top, the edge may merely be a crust of turf.

Dist:0.7km<br/>Looking back towards the cliffs from the rocks at low tide. The bases are slowly being eaten away by the action of the tide forming small caves which will eventually cause the rocks above to collapse. A closer view of the middle one can be seen here, [[822228]]. Also noticeable is the boulder line immediately below the cliff caused by recent collapses and in turn they will be weathered down until the sea is able to transport them elsewhere.

Dist:0.7km<br/>Looking up the cliff face from below at low tide. The small ledges provide ideal nesting places for Herring Gulls which judging by the noise when I passed by was feeding time.

Dist:0.7km<br/>Below the cliffs west of Newhaven at low tide. The ferry to Dieppe is in the process of turning and heading off t France having reversed out of Newhaven.

Dist:0.8km<br/>At the base of a cliff west of Newhaven. The sea is eroding the chalk here forming these openings at the foot of the cliffs which will eventually lead the cliff to be top heavy and collapse.

Dist:0.8km<br/>Underneath the cliffs to the west of Newhaven at low tide. A small area between the shingle and eroded cliff bases are filled with large rocks which I assume will be eventually weathered down and moved along the beach.

Dist:0.9km<br/>At the base of the cliffs at low tide, the green on the cliff denoting the height of the water at high tide. Also visible in the cliff base are bits of flint. The ferry in the distance has just reversed out of Newhaven harbour and is about to turn round and head off to France.
