Lines of trees mark the watercourses, although aerial views show that rather less is wooded than appears from the photograph. The farms, East and West Croft, are out of square. The horizon is formed by the high land of Broadbury.

Dist:1.0km southeast<br/>Seen through a line of trees along a field boundary, a newly-created lake in a field south of Halwill. The valley drains west (right) into the nearby River Carey.

Dist:1.1km west<br/>A hamlet set at the end of a lane north of Quoditch Cross. The little green is where Ashwater Footpath 1 (from Halwill) meets Ashwater Footpath 4 (from Muckworthy).
