Dist:0.1km<br/>The channelled River Glen, with floodbanks on both sides, takes a major change of direction here, turning sharply to the south. Just outside of this southern floodbank is a marshy area indicating what the whole area might have looked like before the river was channelled. Willow Tree Farm is behind the trees on the left.

Dist:0.3km<br/>On the other side of the road from the engine peninsula, this drain is conducting water from the very southmost part of Bourne North Fen towards the south forty foot. after passing over the sluice in the foreground the water passes under the bridge and into the drain in the foreground of geograph 1788314 In the distance can be seen the embankment of the raised River Glen, whose waters are around 3m above the water in this drain, and around 3.6m above the waters below the sluice in the south forty foot. It is probable that the proposed lock that will allow boats to pass from the south forty foot to the Glen will be somewhere in this photograph.

Dist:0.4km<br/>General view of the engine peninsula and rainfall telemetry station. The drain in the right foreground has come under the road from geograph 1788412. It continues straight on into the south forty foot drain. The engine would have stood in the immediate foreground, lifting the water in that drain into the south forty foot.

Dist:0.4km<br/>The Hawk and Owl Trust has erected a number of these boxes along the floodbank of the River Glen. They appear in twos, about 10 metres apart, and are all on poles like this. Surprisingly they are erected adjacent to the footpath rather than a bit more remotely so we surprised a barn owl which flew out (sorry not quick enough with the camera). Yes, the picture is upright! Buildings of Willow Tree Farm behind.

Dist:0.9km<br/>The River Glen has been channelled for many miles with flood banks on either side to provide drainage for this otherwise marshy area. Within the floodbanks there are the occasional sections of marsh remaining, as seen here. The grass in the foreground was bone dry though (21st April).

Dist:0.9km<br/>This is about as remote as it gets. The channelled River Glen, acting as a drainage ditch with flood banks either side, runs through flat farmland with few features. This location is only accessible by the footpath which runs along the eastern bank, which also forms part of the Macmillan Way, a 290-mile coast to coast route from Lincolnshire to Dorset.

Dist:1.0km<br/>The channelled River Glen runs between flood banks in a very remote stretch. Footpaths run along both sides; on the south side this is part of the Macmillan Way. Although it appears remote, the A151 runs parallel to the north, below and completely hidden by the northern bank of the river.
