Seen from Chinthurst Hill - Guildford sits in the gap between two chalky ridges of the North Downs. The gap is followed by the River Wey, main roads and the railway.

Large shopping mall at the foot of North Street, built on the site of the former Dominican Friary and the Friary Brewery.

Guildford's White Lion Walk is a covered shopping arcade connecting High and North Streets. It takes its name from one of the borough's former coaching inns, the White Lion. The only remnant of this is this figure high above the North Street entrance. Christmas decorations surround it.

North Street entry to Guildford's multi-storey indoor shopping centre. It gets its name from the former Dominican friary on this site. The park & ride bus is about to turn left to the bus station which is adjacent to The Friary.

Guildford's multi-level Friary Shopping Centre has a central square, seen here with long, hanging Christmas decorations. There was once a Dominican Friary on this site till the Dissolution, followed much later by the Friary Brewery (ca 1870-1974).
