Dist:0.5km<br/>A church has existed in the parish since at least 1190 when it belonged to Thornton Abbey in Lincolnshire. It was dedicated to St. Michael by 1468. Some parts of the 12th century church survive as well as the tower which was built in the early 13th century.

Dist:0.5km<br/>One of the relatively few houses at Grimston in the parish of East Garton. Proposals were put forward in 1785 to build cottages along with the new mansion at Grimston Garth, and at least some of these were completed by 1852. Medieval Grimston, now depopulated, was situated northwest of here in an area shown as Old Garths on the Ordnance Survey 1:25000 scale map.
