On the right is a pair of three-storey houses, but not the weaver's cottages found further up Calderdale. On the left is a retaining wall above the steep drop into the valley of Wood Fall. The wall was no doubt built when Brow Lane was widened, which must have been an expensive operation.

Dist:0.2km<br/>This is a former Methodist Church (originally Primitive Methodist) of an unusual design, with a mixture of tall round-headed window and smaller rectangular ones, and an interesting window in the gable.

Dist:0.2km<br/>This is on a path down steps from Wade House Road, near to the Duke William Inn. It looks to be rebuilt, conservation work perhaps either by the civic society or by the consortium that bought the lordship of the manor from Lord Savile in 1988.

Dist:0.2km<br/>A large double-pile building that was there before the road was improved and raised by building a retaining wall in 1835. There was a pinfold down by the inn. On the left is an old style of Electricity sub-station, looking like a prefabricated garage.
