A wonderful example of a Victorian red bricked nonconformist church. Just visible on the door pillar is a white notice. Not as one would normally expect, a planning application. But a request asking dog owners not to let the pets mess in the doorway.

An unassuming pair of dwellings situated across the road from the Methodist church. These being designed by Henry Roberts in 1848 as model Cottages on behalf of The Philanthropic Organisation. Set up to improve the conditions of the labouring classes. What however is the unfinished inscription stone above the doorway? See also The Lost Symbol [[2289234]] for a close up.

Despite looking old these two houses where built in 2007 on the site of the former bus depot. Some of the original bricks have been reused giving the buildings a slightly aged appearance.

Dist:0.1km<br/>Whilst not serving customers, this pump has been restored to full working order by the garage next to it. They specialise in the maintenance of classic cars.

Dist:0.1km<br/>At one point the sign outside displayed a WW1 Sergeant ready to pay 'The King's Shilling'. The actual office was however over the road in Green Street.

Dist:0.2km<br/>Built in 1930 as a Co-op. Situated at the junction of Long Lane and the High Street.

Dist:0.2km<br/>Situated in a park just off the main road. The replica gallows stands as a reminder of more grizzly times. The plaque records the area as Gunnerby and not Gonerby. The white notice board gives advice to dog owners.

Dist:0.2km<br/>At the junction of the aptly named Pond Street and High Street. A plaque commemorates the now dried up pond. There was a tradition for gathering mud and stones from here and pelting the church clock with them.

Dist:0.2km<br/>Whilst having the traditional swings and slides there is also an all weather tennis and football pitch, complete with floodlights.
