Dist:0.2km<br/>Gorleston bypass, built on some of the formation of the former line from Lowestoft to Great Yarmouth. The line closed in 1970 and the station site had the roundabout built ontop. The station was jointly owned by the part owned by the M&GNJR.

Dist:0.2km<br/>The park and path was once a busy line linking Lowestoft with Great Yarmouth, the line closed in 1970, leaving the towns unconnected directly by rail. The trackbed for half a mile or so has been turned into a path and the park is the former station goods yard site.

Dist:0.4km<br/>The plaque on the wall reads - Admiral Duncan's Pump The well in which this pump stands was sunk by the direction of Admiral Lord Duncan in 1797 for the purpose of watering H.M. vessels under his command and was then used by the Royal Navy throughout the Napoleonic wars. The steps lead from Beach Road to Cliff Hill. The White Lion (once a pub, now converted into apartments) stands at the top.

Dist:0.5km<br/>This was taken from the same spot as [[1693915]]. There is still snow on the beach and the grass from a recent snowfall. The boating lake, to the right, is also frozen. In the middle distance are the gantries at the harbour.

Dist:0.5km<br/>Cliff Hill is a small road running along the top of the escarpment, giving views across the harbour and lower parts. The houses in the foreground are on Beach Road (and in the same square). Beyond there is the lighthouse [[1605221]] and parts of the harbour area.
