Dist:0.4km<br/>Plans for a major road from the junction of the M58 and the M6 to the West, and the M61 to the East, by-passing Wigan town centre, have been in existence since WW2. In modified form it is still high on Wigan Borough's lit of transport priorities - but not on the Government's. However, it is now intended to build a section of the road in the near future. It will go from here, on the A49 at Goose Green, to the new industrial development being built on the site of the former Westwood Power Station.
