Beacon Works, Hailwood & Ackroyd Ltd, built 1911. Between Morley and Tingley on the A650. Established as a manufacturer of miners lamps.

According to my good watch this is what Morley looked like at noon on Xmas day 2005. Looking N towards the town centre from the disused railway embankment near to Topcliffe Mills. Look closely, there are still one or two mill chimneys remaining of the once proud textile town.

Oak Street runs NW from Topcliffe Lane to Texas Street (where the white building is). The building to the left is the Beacon Works and the one to the right is Oak Mills.

This entire area used to be a vast British Gas depot.

Looking towards Dewsbury Road. This used to be the entry drive to a massive British Gas Depot. The buildings to the left now occupyspace that previously housed two gasometers.

This pet supply and veterinary are situated on the site of the former Tingley gasworks.
