Gateford Homepage


This road runs beside the modern Gateford Road and would have been in use when Gateford existed as a small hamlet on the outskirts of Worksop. Gateford is now a large suburb of Worksop, with extensive development taking place over the last 20 years.

Dist:0.9km<br/>The grandly named Dukeries Industrial Estate is home to the Oxo cube production factory. During the 1/200 of a second that my camera shutter was open the factory no doubt produced enough Oxo cubes to last a large family a lifetime. Perhaps. STOP PRESS March 2012- I am listening to a programe on Radio 4 recorded at the Oxo factory. They produce 50 cubes per second, or 1 quarter of a cube in the time my shutter was open. So much for my speculation!

Much street furniture has appeared along this stretch of road in the last 2 years and an additional zebra crossing...oh, did I mention there's a whole new school too! At the time of this picture, glass has just been put into some of the windows of the new structure.

Dist:1.4km southeast<br/>This is very much 'work in progress,' showing the present building site for the new Valley school, where there has been a running track until the beginning of May 2006. In the distance, you can see the council allotments, the main entrance of which are on Gateford Road.
