A silvery patchwork of small fields provide pasture and hay/silage. In the foreground is a shakehole, an indication of underlying limestone. You can also see the valley of Cross Gill, an important watercourse draining a large area on the eastern side of Cross Fell.

St John's Church dates from the eighteenth century, but has been much restored. The original building was four-square, crowded with pews, and had plain sash-windows. A gallery was erected in 1752 and removed in 1890. In that year began extensive alterations. http://www.visitcumbria.com/churches/garrigill.htm

It is obvious that this car hasn't moved since the latest snowfall. The remote village of Garrigill http://www.thecumbriadirectory.com/Town_or_Village/Garrigill/Garrigill.php high up in South Tynedale at an altitude of over 340 metres is prone to heavy snow.
