Dist:0.9km west<br/>This skew bridge carries the single track branch railway line from Watford Junction to St Albans Abbey over Park Street Lane. The yellow and black edging serves as a warning of the limited clearance to drivers of large vehicles. The height restriction is 13' 9" or 4.19 metres between the two vertical white bars.

Dist:1.0km west<br/>Viewed from the Hyde Lane pedestrian crossing of the railway, this is the St Albans Abbey branch line, looking in the direction of St Albans. Many years ago this was the site of a railway junction with a short-lived freight line to the former Napsbury station on the Midland Railway about two kilometres to the east. The railway was however closed before the First World War.

Dist:1.1km northwest<br/>This skewed bridge carries the single track branch railway line from Watford Junction to St Albans Abbey over the A5183 Watling Street, and marks a change in direction of the otherwise straight Roman Road. Just visible under the bridge on the right hand side is a forward facing Truvelo speed camera. The advantage to the authorities of the use of these cameras is that they can photograph the driver's face as well as the vehicle registration plate.

Dist:1.1km west<br/>Minimalist facilities are available at this station on the St Albans Abbey branch line from Watford Junction. However the elliptical shaped shelter is recent having replaced the more usual box shaped version visible in Jack's image [[37005]] from August 2005. How Wood station is comparatively new, having been opened in 1988 when the line received its overhead electrification. The next station on the line towards St Albans is Park Street which is only 1 kilometre away.
