The dovecote was erected circa 1740 and restored by the Richmondshire Preservation Trust in 1986. It is Grade II listed.

Dist:0.1km<br/>The grandest dovecote in the district stands in the grounds of Forcett Park. It was designed in 1740 by Daniel Garrett, a London-trained Yorkshire architect, who was a protégé of Lord Burlington. Grade II listed.

Dist:0.3km<br/>Norman south doorway, tower and (re-used) south porch entry. The rest mostly from drastic restoration of 1859 which also produced refurnishing in high Victorian style. Many sculptural fragments (Anglo-Danish c800-1066) medieval coffin lids and worn effigy of 14th C. priest.

Dist:0.5km<br/>This photograph shows part of the disused railway track that ran between Forcett Valley and Darlington. The section shown here runs up the east side of the small village of Eppleby. Some of the stone boundary walls of properties in the village can be seen on the left-hand side of the picture. This section of the old railway is now used as a farm access track.

Dist:0.5km<br/>This photograph shows an unusually high level of water in Forcett Beck as it flows in a north-easterly direction towards the village of Eppleby. Some of the houses at the south end of the village can just be seen in the right-hand side of the picture.

Dist:0.5km<br/>At this level, all the snow has melted (apart from the odd snowplough-built piles at the sides or the road), but the resulting meltwater has not drained from the fields. You can just discern Forcett Beck, almost bank full as it flows through the very flat fields between Eppleby just to the north and the fortifications of Stanwick St. John to the south.

The picture was taken looking in a north-westerly direction towards Forcett. In the distance, Forcett church is just visible in the left-hand side of the picture. The public footpath way-marker is just to the right of the ivy-clad tree shown in the centre of the picture.
