Dist:0.2km<br/>Viewed from across the carpark of Marple Station, St Martin's is said to be a "Victorian gem" and an outstanding example of the work of the Arts and Craft Movement. It was built in 1870 with land and money donated by Ann and Maria Hudson, followers of the Oxford Movement who lived in Brabyn's Hall in nearby Brabyn's Park. The architect was John Dando Sedding, a leading ecclesiastical architect of the era.

The main change since 1977 has been abolition of the local signalbox (visible beyond the station building) and replacement of the semaphore signalliong.
