Dist:0.9km<br/>Crossroads between Ferrensby and Farnham. The road straight ahead is Sandy Lane and is one way, a system that some people [particularly those relying on satnav] seem to be unaware of. The consequences can be unpleasant.

Dist:1.1km northeast<br/>In 1765 John Metcalfe or "Blind Jack of Knaresborough" began the era of scientific road building when he was employed to build the Ferrensby to Minskip stretch of the Harrogate to Borobridge Turnpike. This was a successful career, and by 1792 he had built 180 miles of turnpike around the county.
