The entrance here is unlikely to be original but retains the heraldic panels.

Dist:0.5km<br/>When I taught at this splendid school in the 1970s the five-storey building ahead was known as B Block. The library, to the right, dates from the mid seventies. A highlight for all who taught and were taught here in those times was the day when the librarian parked her Mini in what was then the staff car park in the foreground, but failed to put the handbrake on. As the pupils arrived a little later, the empty car rolled slowly back into the lake, from which its also forgotten headlights shone forlornly for a while until the car was winched out later in the morning. The bollards probably date from that incident. The main part of the school is behind the camera, near the parish church and the almshouses. The grammar and secondary modern schools which became the John Port Comprehensive School in the 1960s were built in the grounds of Etwall Hall in the previous decade.

Dist:0.5km<br/>Over a long weekend each May, the small village of Etwall celebrates the sites of ancient wells. As part of these festivities, there are other attractions for all the family to enjoy. Worth a visit - a stroll round the village takes in all wells. No charge is made, but collections are taken for nominated charities and local causes.
