Dist:0.4km<br/>In the middle of the countryside, I came across this heavily fortified approach to Middle Swainston [[NZ4129]] which can be seen in the distance. It seems unlikely that it is a working farm. All a bit sad really!

Dist:0.4km<br/>This private road (with public footpath) leads to Low Swainston [[NZ4129]] which can be seen in the middle distance and on to Embleton. There are the ubiquitous wind turbines on the horizon.

Dist:0.8km<br/>Although it is hard to make out today, especially on a misty morning, the low humps and hollows to the left of the stream mark the site of the Medieval Village of Swainston.
