Dist:0.3km north<br/>The parish name probably means "church of the Virgin", but the church is dedicated to the obscure 6th-century Welsh saint Cristiolus. The church enclosure is circular (except from a bit eaten away on the north boundary) and typical of very early (6th century?) foundation, perhaps on a pre-christian site. However, the church was rebuilt in 1883, and shows little earlier detail.

Dist:0.3km north<br/>This Victorian reconstruction of an more modest earlier building is dedicated to Christiolus, a 7th century Welsh saint, although the name of the village, Eglwyswrw, is often translated as 'Wrw's church'. (However there may be an alternative explanation for the name, see [[292865]].) The saint's day, November 3, was traditionally celebrated in the parish.

Dist:0.4km north<br/>This old 18th century coaching inn in the middle of Eglwyswrw stood alongside the turnpike road (now the A487) between Fishguard and Cardigan, not far from its junction with the Haverfordwest turnpike road to the west of the village. As a result it was once an important staging post where the travelling serjeants-at-arms sought hospitality. It also housed the local Petty Sessions at one time but is now a private house.

Dist:0.4km north<br/>Behind the old Serjeants' Inn, but barely visible from the road, this slightly forbidding, four-square building lurks under a huge yew tree. Little seems to be recorded of its history but it was marked on the 1838 Tithe Map as a meeting house, and in 1891 as a school. Subsequently it has been a church hall and a Young Farmers' Club but now it appears to be a domestic residence.

Dist:0.5km north<br/>This early 19 building stands between the main (turnpike) road and a small stream running immediately to the right of this image. It seems to have only these two back windows and one at the front so must be very dim inside.

Dist:0.6km west<br/>Mary's Well, an ancient watersource for the village, bubbles up at the foot of a bank below the old castle mound. A local historian/archaeologist has suggested that the mystery of the village's name, usually translated as Wrw's church, although the existing church has a different dedication, could in fact derive from Eglwyswryf: church of the virgin, suggesting a pre-Reformation cult of the Virgin Mary and perhaps a vanished Catholic church.

Dist:0.7km west<br/>It is difficult to get an idea of the structure of this old earthwork whose outlines have sunk back into the landscape but this view from the southwest shows the bailey and the ditch. It is sited directly west of the present settlement on a natural bluff.
