At the time it offered a welcome alternative to the domination of Watneys and Courage pups in the area, and always offered a good range of well kept ales. The building was previously a pair of shops, as is apparent from the frontage.

Dist:0.2km<br/>York House is the municipal office of the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. The central part dates from the 1630s and takes its name from the Yorke family, owners of farmland in the area. The gardens at the rear are bisected by Riverside but run to the River Thames and are open to the public, with the sunken lawn sometimes used for open-air theatre in the summer. The stone footbridge seen here connects the two halves of the gardens.

Dist:0.2km<br/>The odd mixture of building styles of the ragstone tower and red brick nave and chancel in this church is due to the fact that the original church collapsed in 1713, leaving just the tower.
