At the time it offered a welcome alternative to the domination of Watneys and Courage pups in the area, and always offered a good range of well kept ales. The building was previously a pair of shops, as is apparent from the frontage.

Dist:0.2km north<br/>The odd mixture of building styles of the ragstone tower and red brick nave and chancel in this church is due to the fact that the original church collapsed in 1713, leaving just the tower. Dist:0.3km north<br/>These formal gardens are part of the grounds of York House, now municipal offices for Richmond upon Thames. The statues are of nubile water nymphs cavorting with winged horses among rocks, and are entitled 'Cascade, Pool and Oceanides'. (See http://www.twickenham-museum.org.uk/detail.asp?ContentID=11 for more information). As I took the picture, the site was fenced off and careful restoration work was in progress.
