Our ‘Healthy Arts Project’ aims to improve health in the community and independence amongst people with disabilities. We will do this by offering a mobile outreach service that is broken into two elements, ‘Health Monitoring and Advice’ and ‘Arts Classes.’

At Disability Essex we believe that art and craft can have many benefits to both the able and disabled. This is why we are offering your residents and members the opportunity to experience these benefits through our free‘Healthy Arts Project’.

Spring Craft Fair, Saturday 5th March, 10am - 3pm. selling a wide variety of different crafts. The craft fair is to launch a bi-weekly club for adults, where people can come to learn a new craft, get help with a current project or just spend some time with like minded people, starting on Tuesday 15th March.

Singing into your hairbrush can soon be a thing of the past, as Popchoir is coming to Croydon from Monday January 4th. Rehearsals are at St Mildred's Centre (2 mins walk from Addiscombe tram stop) from 8.00 - 9.30pm and it's easy to join; There's no audition and no need to be able to read music - all you need is enthusiasm and commitment.

Popchoir is for anyone and everyone who wants to sing but has never found anywhere to do it before! So whether you’re a closet singer or first up at karaoke, a slightly apprehensive beginner or the next Beyonce/Robbie , a worn out mum or an overstressed commuter, Popchoir is waiting for you.
When you join Popchoir you’ll have the opportunity to sing some great songs with a bunch of other people, to polish them up, perform them in public for fun and for entertainment, to find and improve your voice, to spend an hour and a half every week getting that feelgood factor and to make some new friends in the process.

We are a chamber choir of 40+ members led by Janet Haney. Rehearsals at St Mark's Church West Wickham on Monday evenings 8.00 to 10.00 pm. New members are welcome in all parts. No auditions although we do expect singers to be able to hold a tune. Learning CDs are made available.

As you can see, this is a very new and fresh concept of mine. Rainy Reading Days will initially hope to create a 'cyber' reading club. It is very accessible and extremely simple. Instead of the hustle and bustle of leaving the comfort of your own home, we can create a little literature club where we can discuss an appointed novel.
