This walking and cycling path is built on the course of the former branch line from Dyce to Fraserburgh, which was abandoned in the 1970s. Here it passes through the Pitmedden Road industrial estate, with more inviting countryside in the distance.

Too new to show up on the OS map, these flats are part of a large development on the site of the former McIntosh of Dyce factory, which once made such Scottish delicacies as haggis, stovies or chicken tikka pies. The company is still going strong, but is no longer based in the Aberdeen area: http://www.mcintoshfoods.com/

Dist:0.3km<br/>The unusual memorial/grave for George Thompson (1804-1895), Laird of Pitmedden in the 19th Century, and his family members. Thompson was Lord Provost of Aberdeen and then MP for the city. He welcomed Queen Victoria on her first visit to Aberdeen in 1848 before she travelled to Balmoral. I suspect that visitors to the isolated cemetery, not attached to a church and surrounded by industrial units in the Pitmedden Road estate are few and far between...
