Nottingham Castle [[SK5639]] can be seen on its bluff above the City, with the dome of the Council House [[SK5739]] to the left of it.

It has been heavily canalised to minimise the effects of flash flooding, but I believe that originally the Leen fed into the Nottingham Canal and would have weired over into this watercourse. The location is certainly the point at which the Beeston Canal joined the Nottingham Canal.

Dist:0.2km<br/>This is the dry dock, which is capable of dealing with two narrow or one wide-beam craft. The yard dates from the end of the 18th century when the canal was built, although the current firm did not take over until the early 20th century.
