Dist:0.2km<br/>This post dated 1827 for is for the Bath Turnpike Trust. It is made of cast iron. The Turnpike trusts were set up in the 18C and improved the roads by collecting tolls from those passing the toll gates set on major roads. Bath Turnpike Trust, established under an Act of 1707, was the first such Trust in North Somerset.

Dist:0.3km<br/>Another view of the aqueduct from a different angle. Above Combe Hay the Somerset Coal Canal followed the 75 metre contour for the rest of its route into Radford Basin. At Dunkerton it followed a small valley as far as Edelweiss Farm the crossed on this aqueduct.

Dist:0.7km<br/>The cast iron distance plate, which was set in the recess and bolted to the post through the hole, has been removed. The distance from Dundas is about 5 miles. This post may or may not be in its original position, the canal certainly passed very near to this spot, a few yards to the south perhaps but no further north. For much of its length the Camerton and Limpley Stoke Railway, completed in 1909, was built on the line of the canal which further confuses the issue.
