Dist:0.1km<br/>The plaque was placed here by Gloucestershire County Council. The station was one on the Midland branch line that started at Nailsworth and connected with the Midland's Bristol to Gloucester line at Stonehouse. There was also a branch from here into Stroud.

It is certainly quite well hidden from the road otherwise someone else would have photographed it by now but the traffic noise reduces its value as a quiet zone. No matter. It's good to see that the past has been recognized not completely obliterated.

Dist:0.3km<br/>This length of the Stroudwater Canal was converted into a flood relief channel in 1956 and the locks here at Dudbridge road had their gates removed and weirs installed. This is the lower, or Franklin's Lock (named after the builder) and forms a single structure with Dudbridge Road bridge. The lock chamber is generally in good condition and the main restoration work will be the provision of new gates and paddles, along with additional bypass culverts to maintain the flood flow capability.

Dist:0.3km<br/>The railway line ran between Dudbridge and Stroud and is viewed from the Dudbridge End. Nowadays it's the best made bit of cycle track in Stroud, it's a pity the access is by a flight of stairs. The road bridge carries traffic between Dudbridge Hill and Dudbridge.
