The camp was in use from the beginning of the Great War until the early 1960s. There is some housing further down the road comprising property once owned by the Ministry of Defence but long since sold into the private sector.

Dist:0.9km<br/>Showing its new use as a cycle track. The line operated for just over eighty years from 1881. It was originally the Swindon, Marlborough and Andover Railway, later becoming part of the Midland and Southwest Junction Railway.

Dist:0.9km<br/>The halt on the Midland and South Western Junction Railway (M&SWJR) served the military camp that once lay a kilometre to the west. The railway ran from the 19th century until it closed to passenger traffic in September 1961.
