Combe Down tunnel was on the old Somerset & Dorset Joint Railway which ran from Bath to Bournemouth. The line closed in 1966 and the tunnel, which is more than a mile long, is now owned by Wessex Water.

Dist:0.3km<br/>Bath has a number of these out of the way lanes which look as if they belong to some quiet village in deepest Somerset. They take some searching out but are worth the trouble. At the bottom of the hill are several more, Lyncombe Vale Road to the right, Lyncombe Hill to the left with Rosemount Lane ahead.
