Dist:0.4km north<br/>This view is looking eastwards from the entrance to Woodsome Hall. It is 'Road' not 'Lane' and has been constructed with an even gradient and a gentle curve, all signs that it is a diversion of an old lane that went through the estate. This is confirmed by reference to Jefferys's map of 1771, which shows the road as passing close by the hall and entering Farnely Tyas village via Field Lane. The new road is shown on the OS map of 1850.

Dist:0.4km north<br/>Woodsome Hall is an Elizabethan House, and was the home of the Kaye-Dartmouth family. It has the date 1600 over the porch. It is now the clubhouse for a golf club.

Dist:0.8km north<br/>This is one that the OS have lost track of. The 1850 map shows it and gives the distances: Huddersfield 3 miles, Penistone 9½ miles, but by the mid-20C it was no longer shown. Although the next one towards Penistone was. The lettering is painted on cement render, which will not last much longer.
