Dist:0.5km<br/>To take this photo? Yes. A dawn photo of one of the local purveyors of weekly necessities. The property holding arm of Asda bought this industrial area in Dalgety Bay for just under £9m earlier this year from Stockland Halladale who in turn snapped up the 11.7 acre site for under £2m from BAE Systems in 2005. Asda occupy about half the area on the site of the former John Sutcliffe building. That's a nice return in my book. Seems a hefty price for industrial land though. Good for Asda/Halladale that the Council didn't listen to the local objections and allowed it through on appeal. However it's here now and it is being used. Tesco seems just as busy as ever. Is it just me or has the addition of competition not resulted in any savings in your purse either? If anything it's had the opposite. Bah! Waitrose or Sainsbury would have worked very well in this area methinks. http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1045504

Dist:0.6km<br/>That's Glaaaams (not Glamissss). Leafy, desres, quiet, cul-de-sac southern part of (consistent "village of the year" award) Dalgety Bay. Taken from the end of the path at Donibristle Wood where Glamis Place becomes Glamis Gardens.

Dist:0.7km<br/>The grey stone building near the top of the picture is Letham Farm House it used to be one of the few buildings in the square which was mostly farmland. Dalgety Bay has expanded so much in this past ten years the house is now surrounded.

Dist:0.7km<br/>Wir Cooncil was in and aboot wir wood hacking lumps aff trees. This one appeared to be a little unsettled with its loss of appendage. Do trees get scared when they hear the sound of a chainsaw, I wonder? No it's not sweetcorn and lager. The sap/resin which poured from this tree was originally clear but something happened to it on the way to the ground to cause it to yellow and bubble up. It may be that the fluid has been colonized by bacteria or moulds. Or it could be that it is undergoing a chemical change on exposure to light and air. On the whole, however, it's nice to see the Council managing this small wood and the others nearby. Their efforts have been effective and the results are looking good.

Dist:0.7km<br/>The Cooncil, after hacking lumps aff ra trees, put all the little bits through a shredder rather than take it home. More ecologically friendly if you return it to the ground. The big bits are left for the bugs and insects to make houses out of in the short to medium term. In the long term they rot, decay then disappear. (or....The beech serpent guards the woods when the Ent is on holiday. Folks who drop litter -be warned! That pile of splinters is all that's left of Pinoccio and his little loose-bowelled dog.)
