Dist:0.1km<br/>This used to be called Manchester Old Road, and is a long, evenly graded climb, probably straightened when it was improved as a turnpike road (the Wakefield and Austerfields Trust)in 1759. This road continues to Marsden and Standedge, but was replaced by the road that became the A62 in the early 19C. Out of sight on the left is the Standard (now Black Cat), fireworks factory. The pub is the Sands House and the road to the right Sands House Lane.

Dist:0.1km<br/>There is extensive sandstone quarrying in this part of Huddersfield. The quarry here is to the west of Sands House Lane as glimpsed from the track that starts at Blackmoorfoot Road at SE110140.

Dist:0.5km<br/>This bridge carries a track between the Moorfield Quarry workings to the east of Sands House Lane. The track was once a byway open to all traffic but the width of the bridge (and the safety notice) suggests it has been downgraded to bridleway status.

Dist:0.6km<br/>This is the start of a recently re-surfaced track that leads from Blackmoorfoot Road to Sands House Lane. The new crushed sandstone surface finishes at the end of the "park home" type development by the edge of Moorfield Quarry. Castle Hill and Victoria Tower can be see on the horizon far right of shot.
