Dist:0.3km<br/>Has a neglected look about it, so I suppose it is disused. It was altered in 1861 by the architect James Pigott Pritchett (1789-1868). Perhaps he modified the Classical simplicity of the late 18C or early 19C by adding decoration such as the wavy lines over the window recesses.

Dist:0.3km<br/>From this side it is clear that the road has been doubled in width, the newer half being carried by girders rather than a stone arch. Back in 1850 the road was called Cowlersley Lane.

Dist:0.3km<br/>This is to the west of Whiteley Street, and is a short section between two locks. It has therefore been made double-width to accommodate queuing traffic.
