Viewed from the Kilcreggan to Helensburgh ferry which is just passing Ardmore No 10 buoy to the south east of Rosneath Point. Greenock Ocean Terminal is a regular port of call for cruise ships in the summer. Seven cruise ships in seven days berthed here around the time this photo was taken. The port provides deep water berths at the harbourside, dispensing with the need for off-shore anchorage and shuttle ferry service as is required at some other ports around the country. The World is no ordinary cruise ship; it is residential, owned by the residents and tours the world constantly. Freight traffic is handled at the container cranes of Greenock's Ocean Terminal, at Prince's Pier, which was constructed for the Glasgow & South Western Railway.
