Welcome to Church End. This is a guide to the Church End area.

Between Crossway in The Hyde and Endersleigh Gardens in Hendon there are two railways and the M1 Motorway. This photo shows the footpath through the embankment of the Thameslink local railway , next is a similar tunnel under the main line railway from St Pancras to the East Midlands and Sheffield, next the pedestrian has to climb onto a bridge high over the M1 Motorway, finally down into Hendon.

In the foreground is the railway from St Pancras to Sheffield, also Thameslink to Luton. Beyond is one of the many other railways which traverse this area - see Victoria County History for Middlesex, Hendon Communications at http://www.british-history.ac.uk/report.asp?compid=26878 . The photo is taken from a pedestrian bridge over the M1 Motorway. This footpath goes under both railways - its grey fences can be seen at the right of the photo beyond the first railway line, see [[64647]] for a photo under the railway.

Nearly deserted on a Sunday morning, the motorway here is crossed by the footbridge from Hendon to The Hyde at the western end of Endersleigh Gardens.

Dist:1.0km west<br/>Taken from Crossway looking North into Rushgrove Park. The stream feeds Brent Reservoir. The reflections were a surprise; the water is only an inch or so deep and the bed is man-made and almost level so the flow is laminar, not turbulent.

Dist:1.0km south<br/>Hendon Station is on the Thameslink line to Luton, and the St Pancras line to East Midlands and Sheffield. The view is towards the North. On the right of the photo is the M1 Motorway, about a mile from its southern end. The road outside the station entrance just goes to its car park, it doesn't join the motorway.

Dist:1.0km east<br/>Looking South to the junction with Finchley Lane, which has more shops. Parson Street going North up the hill from here is mainly residential. The nearest building in this photo is a bathroom and plumbing shop.
