Dist:0.4km<br/>The Methodist Chapel in Chellaston on the High Street was built in the 1870s. For a while in the 1960s, it also served as the library for the village.

Dist:0.5km<br/>The Rose & Crown has been here for at least 200 years. In the early 19th century, it was in the hands of one "Mary Soar", who continued as publican until she was at least 85 years old, as recorded in the 1861 census. The building has been extensively remodelled since those days, making its history hard to read. These days, it's a popular Marston's house.

Dist:0.5km<br/>St Ralph Sherwin Catholic Church on Swarkestone Road. Not a particularly attractive building, it was built some time around 1970.

Dist:0.6km<br/>This bridge carries the footpath and cycle track that follows the route of the old Derby Canal. The canal and its towing path used to cross by an aqueduct but this was removed after the canal closed in 1964.

Dist:0.6km<br/>Stray animals were held in the pinfold, where their owners could collect them, on payment of a fine. This one is now a seating area. There is an inscribed stone set into the ground in front, which reads, "July 10th 1806 Nathan Bentle of Sworkeston Took is Ass Out of the Pinfould the Gat not being Locked in Consequence of that he Broke the Pound".

Dist:0.7km<br/>This substantial plate girder bridge once carried the Derby to Ashby line of the Midland Railway over the Swarkestone arm of the Derby Canal. Now both railway and canal have long gone.
