Dist:0.2km north<br/>Charlton House is an Elizabethan manor house which still lies at the heart of Charlton Village, an area of London with a strong local identity. It is now owned by Greenwich Council and used for civil weddings and functions and as a branch library. This photo shows the Mayor declaring the annual Horn Fair open.

Dist:0.2km north<br/>Few public conveniences can be Grade 1 listed buildings, especially closed ones. This one was originally known as the Garden House, and dates to the mid/late 17th century. It is on English Heritage's "buildings at risk" register, being disused and in poor condition.

Dist:0.3km north<br/>The memorial is in the middle of a triangular road junction outside St Luke's. Unusually it does not feature a roll-call of names. The inscription reads: "To the glorious memory of the men of Charlton who in the Great Wars 1914 and 1939 gave their lives that we might live. Their names are recorded in the book of remembrance in St Luke's Church".

Dist:0.3km north<br/>The fountain stands close to the war memorial [[971762]]. The inscription on the marble surface is difficult to decipher, but it appears to commemorate the Coronation of King Edward VII in 1902.

Dist:0.3km north<br/>St Luke's is a grade 2* listed Anglican parish church in the heart of Charlton, just across the road from Charlton House [[913218]]. The tower and nave are mostly 17th century but incorporating parts of the walls of an earlier church. The church stands on the edge of a plateau overlooking hte Thames valley, and the tower used to be used as a navigational aid by sailors on the Thames. The parish still has the rare right to fly the Royal Ensign.

Dist:0.4km north<br/>Not all the church can be seen in one view due to its location and the trees in the churchyard. This view shows the main entrance at the west end and the base of the tower [[971732]]. The church contains many memorials including one to the only British Prime Minister to be assassinated, Spencer Percival, who is believed to be buried in the crypt. The Spencer family is associated with Charlton House nearby.
