This is the main A 15 between Lincoln and Peterborough. Dist:0.7km<br/>Cawthorpe is situated on the edge of a limestone escarpment which runs in a broad arc north through to Lincoln and the Humber estuary. The hamlet is set in rolling countryside some 20 metres (65 feet) at the most above sea level, on the edge of the fens. The woods are on slightly higher ground. The photograph shows the modern buildings south of the Hall, which was once a conference centre and is now a bed and breakfast location. The Roman Road King Street turns off the course of the current A15 few yards outside Bourne, and heads through Cawthorpe on the way to Stainfield, on it's alignment toward Ancaster. There are least two other Cawthorpes in Lincolnshire. None of them are of any size.

Dist:0.7km<br/>This footpath is well-used and maintained as a path: the pedestrians and a few cyclists have crops in varying stages of growth from being ploughed up to walking by crops as tall as a child all within a year.

Dist:0.7km<br/>This image was taken at the start of the track/footpath which starts almost opposite the Wishing Well Inn. The present northward extent of Bourne -- Northfields and Stevenson Way -- is three quarters of a mile away to the south. The houses are too far away to spot on the image but close enough to walk to from Bourne, and return, or vice versa.

Dist:0.7km<br/>This public house/restaurant is appealing to passers-by on a wet afternoon and the hanging baskets will continue to 'bloom' throughout the winter. The pub is at the end of footpaths which pass through Dyke from Bourne to the south and Morton to the north. The A15 Peterborough/Lincoln road is half a mile to the west.

Dist:0.8km<br/>This ancient stone milestone, still intact - on the east side of the A15 - states "London 99 Bourn 2 Morton". On the north face of the pillar, difficult to see as it is in shadow, is a benchmark. A short distance to the south is a roadside traffic monitoring station, which belongs to Lincolnshire County Council.

The white railings are to warn of a watercourse and culvert; similar railings are on the other side of the road - where the stream enters the culvert.
