Dist:0.3km<br/>This farm lane was once part of the network of roads in this area. Before the main road was built in the 1840's this was the road from Red Roses to Llanteg, following the high ground.

Dist:0.3km<br/>Remains of the old well that gave Coldwell it's name. The present well is inside the concrete tank.

Dist:0.3km<br/>Two small streams join at this point. It is completely overshadowed by trees. In the winter this is more of a torrent than a stream.

Dist:0.3km<br/>When this old house was built on the side of the road several centuries ago the only traffic was the occasional horse and cart. Now it is alongside the busy A477.

Dist:0.3km<br/>These overgrown stones form a rectangle, the trees marking where the walls were. In the 1840's there is a house marked on the maps in this spot. Now very overgrown with vegetation, this would have been a pleasant spot by the side of a stream.

Dist:0.3km<br/>This gentle stream flows out of the sheep pond. In winter it is much deeper and wider and is a raging torrent. This whole area is heavily covered with trees. The stream eventually enters the sea at Amroth.

Dist:0.4km<br/>This pond was used as late as the 1950's for washing sheep. The stream would be dammed in May or June to create a deep pool, and neighbouring farms would bring their sheep here and throw them into the pool. The sheep would swim round before being allowed back out. This would wash all the dirt out of the fleece before shearing. Of course the men would get wet as well and stream water is very cold! The stones used for damming are still here.

Dist:0.4km<br/>This old house seems to be in a peaceful setting, but the busy A477 runs by the front of the house.

Dist:0.4km<br/>Nice day for a graze. The farm is situated in a hollow, and was called "Old Well" on maps in the 1800's, suggesting that the well, which still exists, was important.
