Dist:0.3km<br/>The main shopping precinct in the village, developed when the village expanded as a colliery village. There is still a reasonable variety of shops, including a butcher, a baker and a small Sainsbury's branch, together with the usual clutch of takeaways.

Dist:0.3km<br/>Calverton is linked with Longué-Jumelles in western France. Unfortunately the older plaque to the right has the name of the French town mis-spelt, with two Ms. The name Jumelles is particularly apt, as it means twins.
