Dist:0.2km<br/>Peeking over the fence from Edgbaston Park Road at The Vale. Edgbaston Golf Club lease the land from Calthorpe Estates, the 144 acre site being being formerly a private landscaped estate known as Edgbaston Park, reputed to have been landscaped by Capability Brown. The club moved to Edgbaston Park in 1935. The course was designed by Harry Colt. Edgbaston Park also contains a large lake - Edgbaston Pool - formed the damming of the Chad Brook. Edgbaston Pool is a SSSI.

Dist:0.2km<br/>Peeking over the fence into the private Edgbaston Park, now a golf course. Edgbaston Pool is a large lake formed by the damming of the Chad Brook. maps from the 1880s show a wide channel running into the pool, with a sluice at the start of the lake proper. The water seen here is a remaining part of that channel. Later landscaping to create the golf has removed most of the channel with the pool being fed by a narrow stream.

The 1960s buildings at Mason Hall were demolished later that year and replaced with new buildings, re-opening in September 2008, providing accommodation for 800 students at the University of Birmingham.

The photographers position is approximately towards one end of where the easternmost block at mason Hall now stands.

Dist:0.3km<br/>The three-acre artificial lake at the Vale was constructed in the early 1960s. The lake is at the heart of the Vale Village, several halls of residence set in landscaped parkland.
