The A5 between Shrewsbury and Oswestry suffers from planning schizophrenia with a mix of dual carriageway, realigned single carriageway and downright lethal sections of road presumably unchanged since Mr Telford last called by.

Dist:0.4km<br/>The portico of the former lodge shows the poor state of the building; a Doric column is missing and wooden supports stand in its stead and the windows are boarded with panels and corrugated iron sheeting. It is interesting to ponder what this lodge must have looked like in its heyday.

Dist:0.4km<br/>This lodge was one of the gatehouse lodges for the country seat of Onslow Park, a seat of the Barons Onslow (whose main seat is now in Surrey I believe) and dates from 1815 (think Waterloo, Regency rakes, the madness of King George III, the Corn Laws). Its is a great shame that the current and past landowners here have let this fall into such a state of dereliction. I'm confident that plenty of people would be keen to make such a building live-able.
