Dist:0.2km<br/>Bus stop on Station Road just south of Burnham Avenue, Burstwick. New houses are being built in the village all the time, so the view may not look like this for very much longer. The steel barrier is just to stop unsuspecting travellers falling in the ditch.

Dist:0.2km<br/>Flooded fields south of Stud Farm, Burstwick, looking north-northeast from the disused Hull to Withernsea railway line. Burstwick Drain has proved unable to cope with the huge volume of water being channelled south and west towards the River Humber after recent heavy rains. The drain and other smaller ones overflowed onto the surrounding farmland creating a shallow lake with very few patches of dry land in between, stretching for almost three kilometres from the greenhouses near Hall Bridge in Burstwick to the Villa Lane junction on the A1033 between Hedon and Thorngumbald. When this photograph was taken the water in some places had already receded by a foot or more, thanks largely to a concerted effort by the fire brigade.

Dist:0.2km<br/>Primitive Methodist Church at the junction of Station Road and Back Lane, Burstwick. Until recently the church had a spire http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/209349 but this was taken down in December 2007, presumably before it fell down. The wooden framework of the bell tower had been looking a bit tatty for some time, causing the slate roofed spire to lean ever so slightly out over the road.
