Dist:0.5km north<br/>This was the clubhouse of the Brooklands Automobile Racing Club, built for the opening of the circuit in 1907. It is now the visitor reception centre for the Brooklands Museum.

Dist:0.5km north<br/>These buildings are awaiting restoration - the notice is a more polite version of "Trepassers will be prosecuted". The concrete structure in the background is the remains of an anti-aircraft gun tower built to protect the aircraft factories on the site from air attack in the second world war.

Dist:0.5km west<br/>This is the 40% scale model Concorde (G-CONC) that stood from 1990 - 2007 at the end of the spur into Heathrow Airport, as an advertisement for British Airways. It was moved in 2007 to the Brooklands Museum in Weybridge - BAC at Brooklands was where much of the design and manufacture of Concorde took place. (See http://www.concordeproject.com/gconc.htm for a description of the move). The small huts in the background are the Pratts Petrol Pagoda, built in 1922 along with ones for BP and Shell, to supply fuel for racing drivers on the Brookwood motor circuit. The modern offices behind and to the right are part of "The Heights" Business Park.

Dist:0.6km north<br/>On this site the first motor racing circuit with steep banked bends was built in 1907. It also became the site for the development of the Wellington Bomber during WWII. It is also associated with motorbike racing and cycling. Other, more modern planes were developed here too such as the VC10 and a lot of work for the Concorde was done here.

Dist:0.6km north<br/>Concorde G-BBDG ("Delta Golf") was the first British production Concorde, and although never used in airline service, was the first aircraft ever to carry more than 100 people at more than twice the speed of sound. Dist:0.6km north<br/>The Brooklands circuit was the first purpose-built racing circuit in Europe (in the world?) and employed steep concrete bankings all round, so that high speeds could be sustained for long periods. An airfield was built in the centre. In the Second World War factories were built across the track, preventing it returning to use. It is now a museum to racing cars and aeroplanes. Modesty forbids me telling you who is standing in the shot providing scale.

Dist:0.6km north<br/>The purpose of this bridge was to give vehicular access to Members' Hill on the left, where there was a restaurant and grandstand, overlooking the Members' Banking (as this banked section of the track was known).

Dist:0.7km north<br/>Part of the famous racing circuit at Brooklands, near Weybridge in Surrey pictured in 1990. The surface was in a fairly poor state at the time, so you needed a Land Rover to negotiate it! The bridge is apparently called the Members' Bridge, and provided a pedestrian link to the housing area behind the embankment.
