Dist:0.1km<br/>These were part of the installation when Ruddington Ordnance Depot was still in use. The current heritage railway operation uses a much less complicated signalling system. The crosses on the signals are the recognised method of indicating that they are not functioning.

Dist:0.2km<br/>The path runs along the side of the railway for some 2 miles. This is in fact not a historic alignment as the 1:50000 OS map of the early 1970s shows a number of paths cutting across the moors which have clearly since been rationalised to follow field boundaries.

Dist:0.3km<br/>Class 73 electro-diesel locomotive E6016 heads a works train consisting of three well wagons and a brake van away from Ruddington. This type of locomotive was built for use on the Southern Region of British Rail where it could draw power from the electrified third rail or use its own diesel unit. The latter does not generate as much power as when running on electric, but this makes it an attractive proposition for heritage railways where speed is always restricted - you get a big locomotive that is still economical to run.

Dist:0.3km<br/>These are the tracks of the Great Central Railway (Nottingham), attached to the Nottingham Transport Heritage Centre. Access to the main line from the Heritage Centre still involves the reversal of trains at this junction. It was formerly the access to the Ruddington Ordnance Depot.
