Dist:1.1km south<br/>Not the place where Hertingfordbury's geriatric criminal fraternity foregather, but the now disused part dead end section of Thieves Lane. It lost its through traffic when the A414 roundabout was built.

Dist:1.2km east<br/>The Hertfordshire Way passes here through one of the arches of the set of bridges and viaducts that take the railway between Hertford and Stevenage over the valley of the River Beane. The old wheels on the right operate a sluice on an offtake from the River Beane that is part of the water supply infrastructure for Hertford.

Dist:1.2km west<br/>Until very recently this used to be rolling parkland with many old oaks. It is now owned by Lafarge Aggregates, who have their SE England HQ here. It seems they have been unable to resist the sand and gravel on their doorstep. This little spinney is the last island of beauty amid the ravaged landscape.

Dist:1.3km east<br/>The text carved into the stone lintel above the main door states that the water works building was erected in Molewood Road in 1888 for the Borough of Hertford. It is now operated by Three Valleys Water.

Dist:1.3km southeast<br/>Trains from this station are currently operated by First Capital Connect, and there is a normal weekday service at twenty minute intervals to Moorgate. However the journey time is just under fifty minutes and there are seventeen intermediate stops.

Dist:1.3km southeast<br/>This is Hertford's 'other' station, less convenient for the Town Centre, but modern and pleasant enough. But the Class 313 trains, which run mostly to Moorgate, are now looking rather care-worn (they are now over 30 years old) and would benefit from some TLC. The operator, First Capital Connect, has recently been taking delivery of some new Class 377 units - perhaps some of these will find their way to this line.
