Dist:0.7km east<br/>Thought to have been the main entrance to Stanley Abbey. When that abbey was demolished the archway was re-erected as an entrance to Sir Edward Bayntun's (1480-1544) mansion - Bromham House. The arch and gatehouse escaped destruction during the Civil War (1645) and now stands at the Bowden Hill entrance to Spye Park. Dist:0.9km southwest<br/>A sorry sight. The wheat should have been harvested a month ago but the poor weather made it impossible. If the farmer is able to salvage anything from this it will probably go for animal feed at a much reduced price. Bowden Hill rises in the distance.
